"Beautifully double-sided tenugui hand towel"

One of the last remaining studios of “Tokyo honzome” hand-dye fabrics, Asahi Senko keeps the traditional dyeing process unique to Japan called “chusen” （which literally translates as “pouring dye”）. By piling up 30 sheets of cotton fabric and pouring the dye from the top, and from the other side again, the resulting textile shows no right or wrong sides. Applying multiple colors over a stencil at one time to make the gradations is also a unique technique found nowhere else in the world.
