Review from a wheelchair user who stayed at the hotel
I took the elevator down from JR Hachioji Station North Exit to the ground floor and went to the hotel on a level path for about five minutes. The hotel is located in front of the station in a busy area. There are many restaurants in the vicinity, so going out for meals seems easy. The floor of the entrance and front desk area is white-themed, which sets off the blue color of the entrance carpet, so it’s built so that the glass door and sense of distance are easy to comprehend. Check-in is through a do-it-yourself system, and when I was having trouble the staff immediately realized it and helped me.
When I got off the elevator, I saw the evacuation route posted at a height that was easy for wheelchair users to see. On the carpet in the elevator landing the floor level was shown in large, white letters on a black background, so wheelchair users who often look down can check the floor. The Heartful Room was very close and the room number on the door was embossed in large, rounded letters so that persons with visual impairment can touch it without hurting themselves and easily understand.
I was pleased with the guest room layout, which is a straight, short line from the door into the room and on to the bed. There were two beds made available with different widths. The wider one was wide enough to sleep together with kids, so it’s possible to stay as a family. The bedding used a duvet, so I didn’t feel any pressure from the bedding on my numbed toes and was able to easily change position. The toilet and bath are separate with plenty of space for convenience. The control panel for the toilet with bidet function was on the wall, not on the side of the toilet, making it possible to move from a wheelchair onto the toilet. The horizontal handrail at the doorway to the bath can also be used as a towel rack, which is stylish and efficient. The bathtub was easy to get into, even with the right half of my body paralyzed, and the handrails were also at an easy-to-use place. The shampoo, body soap, and conditioner were provided in two ways: one affixed to the wall (convenient for hemiplegics) and the other that can be freely moved (convenient for wheelchair users). On the washbasin was an environmentally friendly recycling box, so I sensed the hotel was considerate of the environment.
